It is shaped like two pyramids joined at their square bases, weighs about 1,000 pounds, and has facets in shades from blue to violet. To attune to a mode, you must reach the appropriate facet and arrange mysterious alien symbols with both hands. Attunement Attuning to the crystal requires a successful Intelligence (Arcana or Investigation) check. You need both hands free to attune to the crystal and operate it. The crystal can be attuned to only one mode at a time. Each time you successfully attune to the crystal, reduce your personal attunement DC by 1, to a minimum of 20. The Attunement table shows the time required. 30 or higher 1 action You attune to the chosen mode. 25-29 1 minute You attune to the chosen mode. 20-24 2d4 hours You attune to the chosen mode. 19 or lower See Failure below You fail to attune to the crystal. Attunement On a failed check with a result below 20, you take 1d6 Psychic damage for each point by which the result is below 20 and have the Frightened condition with respect to the crystal. While you can see the crystal, you cannot move toward it for a number of hours equal to the number of points by which the result is below 20. For example, a result of 15 causes 5d6 Psychic damage and prevents you from moving toward the crystal for 5 hours. The crystal remains attuned to the chosen mode for 3d4 hours or until another creature attunes to it. Operation While attuned to the crystal, you can use only its current mode. As a Magic action, you can attempt one of the functions described below, using both hands and making the check listed for that function.
