Remove from the heat and whisk in the sugar, tamarind, and vanilla, mashing the fruit with the whisk until it is mostly broken down. Allow to sit for 30 minutes. Set a fine-mesh strainer over a heatproof container and pour the liquid through to remove the solids. Let cool fully before using. In a pitcher or punch bowl, combine 1 cup of the tamarind base, the passion fruit juice, vodka, Aperol, lime juice, sliced kiwis, and pomegranate arils. Using a long-handled spoon, stir to combine. Fill six rocks glasses halfway with ice, add the punch, and serve at once.
