D&D 2024 rule: Gathering. Source: Fumble. rule type Fumble rule Fumble rule Gathering Gathering is an 8-hour downtime activity that can be performed once Per Day in a natural environment. Depending on the environment and the character's skills, it can provide food, raw materials, alchemical ingredients, magic components, or treasure. During the activity, the character can take only actions allowed during a Long Rest. Combat, strenuous exertion, Spellcasting, or another significant interruption ends the activity without a result. Before calculating the final result, you can reroll a number of dice equal to the relevant ability modifier. If you have proficiency with an appropriate tool, you can reroll additional dice equal to your Proficiency Bonus. Reroll dice separately or together, but only once per activity. Multiply the sum of the five dice by the multiplier for the final dice pattern and Round Down.
