Source: Fumble. rule type Fumble rule Fumble rule Recovery Conditions Persistent problems such as Exhaustion, chronic diseases, and lingering mental injuries cannot be eased by an ordinary rest in the wilderness or by forced travel. To remove these lasting penalties, a character must finish a Long Rest in a safe shelter with all three conditions below: Safety: The area is free from immediate danger because of physical barriers, vigilant guards, or magical protection. Comfort: Clean bedding, warm meals, and basic medical care are available. Mental rest: The characters can relax without constant fear of ambush or the pressure of forced travel. Examples A prosperous inn in a walled city, a consecrated temple with healers, a properly secured rebel outpost, or a ship anchored in a friendly port can qualify. An open wilderness camp, a ship at sea, or a military camp under constant threat does not qualify. Fumble rule
